Draft Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct

The CRNA requests your input on the proposed draft Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. The CRNA is developing its own code of ethics document to use in place of the Canadian Nurses Association’s Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses (2017). The document is intended to reflect the legal framework and health care climate in Alberta and be easily accessible on the CRNA website. This draft document outlines the principles and core behaviours to ensure:

  • direction is clear and concise;
  • care is safe, compassionate, equitable and discrimination free; and
  • it summarizes, in plain language, what the public can expect from Alberta registered nurses and nurse practitioners.
