Policy Analyst - Regulatory

What You Will Do

The Policy Analyst - Regulatory will fulfill the following functions, including but not limited to:

  • Develop a community of practice with other health system partners, regulators and regulatory experts to discuss, share and inform regulatory ideas, research, policy development and partnership opportunities.
  • Develop regulatory expertise and function as an internal regulatory expert within the organization.
  • Support the CRNA's senior leadership, Council and regulatory committees through the development of a quarterly newsletter and environmental scan that highlights key events and initiatives pertaining to international, national and provincial health system and regulatory initiatives.
  • Monitor government activity, legislation and regulations to ensure the CRNA is adhering to requirements and is positioned well for the future.
  • Provide analysis, identify gaps and areas for improvement, and recommend regulatory policy related changes.
  • Conduct environmental scanning, literature reviews and interviews with health system partners to inform the development (or improvement) of policies.
  • Recommend best/promising practices, innovations and improvements to regulatory (and governance) related policies and processes.
  • Lead the development of decision/discussion/briefing documents for CRNA leadership and Council related to regulatory and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead the development of comprehensive research and policy papers.
  • Support departments and business units across the organization with regulatory policy-related needs.
  • Support research, policy/process development, etc. for the CRNA's Council and governance committees, as appropriate.
  • Lead regulatory knowledge sharing initiatives (e.g. publications in academic/professional journals, presentations, conference abstracts).
  • Support and assist with implementation of the CRNA's diversity and inclusion initiatives.

What You Possess

  • A master's degree in health, nursing, social sciences, public administration or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience is required. A combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Knowledge of health system issues, initiatives and opportunities is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to build sustainable relationships both internally and externally with the organization.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills.
  • Critical thinking skills with a strong ability to interpret and apply legislation and provide recommendations on sensitive policy issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong organizational and meeting facilitation skills.
  • Strong proficiency in MS365 applications and virtual meeting platforms.
  • Ability to prioritize and adjust quickly to changing priorities and execute in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to recognize and handle confidential information in a professional manner.
  • Knowledge of current regulatory issues, initiatives and opportunities is preferable.
  • Knowledge of legislation and regulation relevant to nursing and health care is preferable.
