Feedback Needed on Standards and Guidelines

The CRNA regularly asks for input from the public as it develops and revises the standards and guidelines to ensure they are evidence informed and align with best practice.  

 

Feedback Needed on Draft Standards

The CRNA is seeking feedback on the draft standards of practice referenced below. They are intended to: 

  • update existing standards of practice for registered nurses (RNs) and nurse practitioners (NPs).
  • provide direction that is clear, concise and which outlines what the public can expect from registrants in providing safe, competent and ethical care. 

The deadline to provide feedback for each of the following draft standards is Aug. 31, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MT.

Before any new or revised standard of practice takes effect, they must be approved by the CRNA's Council. If you have questions, please contact standards@nurses.ab.ca.  


Draft: Documentation: Standards for Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners

The purpose of these standards is to outline the professional regulatory expectations for registrants in producing clear, accurate and comprehensive accounts of patient care within any practice setting.

The purpose of these standards is to safeguard the public by promoting and ensuring registrants are fit to practise.

The purpose of these standards is to outline expectations for registrants when engaging in medication practices such as administration, dispensing, storage, inventory management and disposal.
